Research Description: |
As a plant biologist, I study the genetic and epigenetic mechanisms that underlie cell-fate determination and patterning during development. To this end, I have adopted a theoretical approach, focusing on the specification of mathematical models that allow to study the collective action of molecular elements regulating each other. These models have enabled the postulation of testable predictions and have provided insights into the origin of systemic properties that characterize developmental systems, such as robustness and plasticity. I am also working on the postulation of dynamical patterning modules that could hava a key role in plant development and evolution. Recently, I have begun to study the evolution of such modules in plants, as well as the role of environmental stimuli on developmental patterning processes. |
