Research Description: |
We are interested in the Evolution head morphology in arthropods. We apply an Eco-Evo-Devo approach to study the molecular basis of natural variation in adult head morphology in closely realted Drosophila species. In addition, we are currently trying to establish the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum as Eco-Evo-Devo model. By applying a broader Evo-Devo approach we want to understand how visual systems in chelicerates (spiders) and insects (Tribolium, Drosophila) evolved. |
