Research Description: |
The Franks' Lab is interested in the molecular mechanisms of Development. The majority of our present research efforts are in the model flowering plant Arabidopsis thaliana and is focused on the development of the female reproductive structure the gynoecium. The gynoecium, or seed pod, gives rise to ovules that when fertilized will become the seeds. We have also been working with Jenny Xiang in the Department of Plant Biology at North CArolina State University to study evolution of inflorescence architectures in the genus Cornus (dogwoods). |
