Research Description: Broadly speaking, I am interested in understanding the evolution of nervous systems across different species and the molecular mechanisms underlying nervous system development. As I came from a systems biology lab, I wish to use a similar approach to identify and characterize novel factors in annelid neurogenesis. Through different approaches, like high throughput RNA-Seq and qPCRs, I am trying to understand the different mechanisms underlying neural stem cell maintenance and their differentiation into various neural subtypes in Capitella teleta.
