Research Description: |
I am investigating six microsatellite loci of the marbled rock crab(Pachygrapsus marmoratus) in Turkey.
The questions I am asking are how differentiated are populations from each other in Turkish waters including the Mediterranean, the Turkish Straits System(The Dardanelles, the Sea of Marmara, and the Bosporus Strait), and how does the Tuurkish Straits System affect the genetic structure of populations(whether it limits the gene flow in either directions or not). Due to its unique current regime and ecological, hydrological, and biological features the Turkish Straits System is very important. |
