Research Description: |
aims of our researches: studying sponges (Porifera Homoscleromorpha) in order to- via a comparative approach- explore the ancestral metazoan molecular tool kit that predated the emergence of key morpho-anatomical innovations. We especially focus on three main questions: the emergence of a neurosensory system; the emergence of epithelia; the characterization of sponge stem cells and the emergence of distinct germinal and somatic stem cell lineages. As directly linked with the previously cited thematics we pay particular attention to the study of two major signaling pathways: Notch and Wnt. |
